HID Blue Headlight Protection Install - Fiat 500

Step 1:

Clean the lenses. Clean your hands. Make sure there are no residues from the cleaning process remaining on the lenses or your hands.

Without removing the lens cover from the backing paper hold it up to the lens and make sure you have the correct one / orientation (i.e. Slightly ovoid lenses). If it is cool - below 65 degrees F gently warming the lens with a hair dryer will help things along.

Wet down one lens with water - a clean spray bottle / plant mister works great.

step 1

Step 2:

If it is cool - below 65 degrees F gently warming the material with a hair dryer will help things along.

Carefully remove the cover from the backing paper - handling the adhesive as little as possible - Use handling tabs when possible. Mist down the adhesive side and gently place on the lens.

Handling the edges center and align the edges. In many ways this is the most important step as it will have a big impact on the final alignment. Make sure the edge tolerance is as even as possible. Extra time here will pay dividends later. The piece will be 'floating' on the beads of water on the lens. Be gentle the adhesive is pressure sensitive.  Lift and remist with water as needed until the piece is evenly aligned

step 2

Step 3:

Squeegee the very center - about the middle ~3 inches or so as shown

step 3

Step 4:

If it is cool out the use of a hair dryer on low will be necessary for the remaining portion of the install. Mist down the surface of the lens with water and squeegee in small increments (.5 inches at a time) with firm pressure from the center outward around the headlight. You can hold the outer portion off the lens a bit while squeegeeing (can help compressing the material). Used two hands on the squeegee if necessary to acheive adaquate pressure. If you leave a bubble, stop, lift the material a bit, re-wet, and re-squeegee with firmer pressure.

v step 4

Step 5:

Continue squeegeeing in small increments with firm pressure on the squeegee.

step 5

Step 6:

Continue squeegeeing in small increments with firm pressure on the squeegee.

Step 6

Step 7:

Continue squeegeeing in small increments with firm pressure on the squeegee.

Step 7

Step 8:

Once you have all but the last .5 inch of the kit down you can firmly squeegee to the edge. The material at the edge will be fingered (wavy) from the compression as shown. Squeegee very firmly from the center of each or a group of each to evenly distribute the material over a wide area as shown.

Step 8

Step 9:

Continue squeegeeing in small increments to the edge of the kit around the perimeter.

Step 9

Step 10:

Continue squeegeeing in small increments to the edge of the kit around the perimeter until all film has laid down.

Step 10

Step 11:

Go over the edges of the kit with heat from a hair dryer on low and firm pressure from the squeegee to make sure the edge is firmly set. With a very sharp razor knife carefully trim off any areas that are misaligned or overhanging at the edge of the kit. Using the squeegee at the very edge will help. Go over the edges with a suede detail cloth / paper towel wrapped squeegee to make sure the edge is fully set. Now you are done, stand back and enjoy!

DONE: Lights On

With our HID Blue protective headlight covers you will be able to change to look of your vehicle while protecting your headlights from being sand-blasted to death. Our HID Blue film was designed to mix with the light from your headlight and produce a bright white beam! You can remove these at some point in the future if you are so inclined - though they can only be used once.
